Coda

It's an English word that comes from the Italian language via Latin “Cauda”.

“Coda” in English is a musical term used to indicate the concluding passage of a piece. In Italian it has different meanings (it is of course used in music) but the main ones are the translation of the English words “Tail” or “Queue” (fare la coda = to queue up).

Interesting expressions with the word “Coda” in Italian are; “Con la coda fra le gambe” (with one’s tail between one’s legs), “Con la coda dell”occhio” (Out of the corner of one’s eye) and “Tirare la coda al gatto” ( to pull the cat’s tail = to go too far).

That’s it for today, it’s time to run: be patient, let the cat go and enjoy music..
