Ego

I know that Egos don't care about etymology, but we are going to discuss it anyway.

"Ego" means "I" in Latin; simple and clear, it was never meant to express other ideas.

It was Sigmund Freud who gave this term the meaning that we know today (some say that was his translator's adaptation..)

"Ego"is the origin of words like "Egoism", "Egocentric", "Egomaniac" etc.; all terms with a negative edge hence the maxim "When the ego dies, the soul awakes.."

Time to go now, my ego is telling me to stop with word's history..

Pier.
