Duro.

It means rough,hard, in English.

"Duro" comes from the Latin "Durus", from the Sanskrit "Darunah" (Strong) akin to Greek

"Drys" (Oak).

In English we can see strong similarities with words like "Durable","Durance","Duress","Duration" etc..

In Italian we have interesting expressions with the word "DURO".

''Duro di comprendonio" (Slow on the draw), "Duro come una roccia" (Hard like a rock),

and "Tenere duro" (hang in there").

So like Paulo Coelo says " La vita e' dura ma io sono piu' duro ( Life is tough, but I'm tougher).

Tenete duro!

Pier.
