Anacreontic

In Italian, Anacreontico. If you love enigmatic words keep on reading.

Anacreon (582 BC – 485 BC) was a Greek poet, famous for composing his poems, songs and hymns in the Ionic dialect, while engaging in crapulous behavior (you know, drinking, eating..).

Originally his drinking songs were very popular (accompanied by the lyre). They became well-known again in the 18th century as they were used in the aria “Don Giovanni”(Mozart).

So in case you decide to perform while drinking, remember to do it in a remarkable Anacreontic style, and although I’m pretty sure you are not familiar with the ancient Ionic dialect, I still believe you can do a good job…

A presto.

Pier.
