Colosseum

It's the famous Flavian amphitheater situated in the center of one of the most beautiful city on the planet : Rome.

"Colosseum" comes from Latin "Colossus" from Greek "Kolossos" meaning "Big Statue".

The Colosseum was built to resemble a colossal statue of Nero and since then it has been the symbol of the city of Rome ( and sometimes Italy).

A common expression in Italian is "Andare a Roma e non vedere il Colosseo" meaning "To fail to see the forest for the trees".

That's it for today; keep on studying Italian and remember"Rome wasn't built in a day.."
