Mustache

It's an Italian word. I know you didn't know, that's why you have to keep on reading and spread the love..

"Mustache" comes from the Italian "Mostacchio" or "Mustaccio" from the Greek"Moustaki"

It's akin to the Latin verb "Mandere" ( to chew) origin of the English words "Mouth"and "Mandible" ("Mandibola" in Italian means "Jaw").

Nowadays we prefer the noun "Baffi" ("Mustacchi" is considered archaic) therefore we have expressions like "Leccarsi i baffi" (To lick one's chops), "Ridere sotto I baffi"(To chuckle in one's beard) basically "To laugh up one's sleeve" and "Mi fa un baffo" (I don't give a damn).

Now that you know go ahead and grow a "stache" ( so you can say "Mi fa un baffo").

Buona vita,

Pier.
